About Pest Answered
Pest Answered answers the questions people ask when they find a pest at home: what is it, is it a problem, what can I do about it myself, and when do I need a licensed professional.
Who the site is for
Homeowners, renters and landlords dealing with mice, ants, cockroaches, termites, bed bugs and other household pests. We write for someone standing in their kitchen with a question, not for pest control technicians.
Who is responsible
The site is written and run by the Pest Answered Editorial Team. Every guide names who wrote it. When a pest control professional has reviewed a guide, their name, experience (and license, only if they hold one) and the review date appear at the top of the page and they have a profile on our team page. When a guide has not been reviewed yet, it says “Expert review in progress”. We do not show a reviewer we do not have.
How guides are made
- We build each guide from government agencies, university extension services, product labels and published research. Those sources are listed at the bottom of the page.
- Drafts may be written with help from AI tools. An editor then checks each claim against the sources and rewrites the text. See How we use AI.
- Pesticide advice follows the product label and agency guidance. We do not publish mixing ratios, dosages or off-label uses.
The full process is in our editorial policy and fact-checking and corrections policy.
Money
If we run ads, sponsored posts or affiliate links, each one will be labeled on the page where it appears, and this section will be updated to say so. Payment never buys a change to our advice or a favorable mention.
